However, it also seems possible that various hyperspace entities are masquerading as religious icons from our memories. As one person told me, “I have encountered a lot of entities which claimed to be the ‘only true god,’ ‘the son of god,’ ‘your creator,’ and concepts like that, with the implied connotation of needing worship and adoration—or else.”

Perhaps it is important to remind ourselves that we need to approach our encounters with otherworldly beings with some degree of caution; just as in the human social world, trust builds over time, with repeated interactions, and it isn’t wise to trust everyone upon first meeting them. There’s no reason to assume that the personalities we meet in hyperspace are necessarily wise beings acting with honesty and integrity. They could be deceptive, and they may be hiding selfish or malicious intentions. Some Christians are convinced that they are “demonic entities waiting to manipulate us.”⁴

That said, could Jesus be who he says he is: a divine being that lives eternally in an alternative dimension, “Heaven,” and makes contact with religious humans who ingest DMT? Maybe. Meetings with Jesus are also commonly reported during near-death experiences, and there is a strange link between alien entity encounters and spirits of the deceased we’ll discuss in chapter 18.

In DMT and the Soul of Prophecy, Rick Strassman explores the similarities between the visions of the Hebrew prophets and the DMT state described by his research volunteers.⁵ Others have pointed out that DMT and harmaline-containing plants (like the acacia tree and Syrian rue, which grow naturally in the Middle East) could have been used to create an ayahuasca-like brew during biblical times.⁶ In fact, the acacia tree is mentioned in the Bible. The historical Jesus was a Jewish prophet; did he have elevated DMT levels, natural or otherwise?
